Ahead of the 2019 general elections, Adamawa State
chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has vowed to mount pressure on
former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to ensure he returns to the party.
This was
made known by the state chairman of the party, Alhaji Abdulrahman Bobboi, on
Monday during a news conference in Yola, the state capital.
He said
that since the former vice president was not allowed to make significant
contributions within the All Progressives Congress (APC), that it was necessary
he returned to the party where he was a founding member.
“Atiku is
a founding member of PDP and we want him back; we are not going to give him a
breathing space until he comes back as he is currently being underutilised in
APC”, Bobboi said.
He added,
“We are going to reach out to him right from his ward to come back to PDP.”
This was
even as Bobboi praised the judgment of the Supreme Court that reinstated
Senator Ahmed Makarfi as PDP National Caretaker Committee Chairman.
He said
with the judgment of the apex court, the PDP will now bounce back and become
stronger.
According
to him, the state PDP has concluded plans to constitute a reconciliation
committee under the chairmanship of former Governor Boni Haruna. The committee,
he said will be saddled with the mandate to bring all aggrieved members of the
party back.
